What is DBT Skills Training?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals develop practical skills for managing intense emotions, coping with stress, improving relationships, and building a more balanced life. DBT combines strategies for accepting difficult thoughts and feelings with techniques for creating meaningful change. While it was originally developed to support individuals experiencing Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), DBT has been shown to be effective for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem challenges, trauma-related difficulties, and substance use concerns.
Manage intense emotions
Learn effective strategies to regulate your emotional responses and reduce emotional reactivity.
Improve relationships
Develop interpersonal effectiveness skills to build healthier and more fulfilling connections.
Cope with stress
Acquire distress tolerance techniques to navigate challenging situations without resorting to harmful coping mechanisms.
Who can benefit from DBT?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) can be beneficial for individuals who experience intense emotions, difficulty coping with stress, or challenges in relationships. It is particularly helpful for those who find themselves feeling overwhelmed by their emotions or reacting in ways they later regret.
Are you struggling with intense emotions?
DBT may be a good fit for individuals who: experience intense emotions that are difficult to manage, struggle with anxiety, depression, or mood instability, have difficulty coping with stress or life transitions, or feel overwhelmed by conflict in relationships.
Seeking healthier coping strategies?
DBT is especially effective for individuals who experience frequent anger, frustration, or emotional outbursts, engage in impulsive behaviours or self-destructive coping strategies, have a history of trauma or adverse life experiences, struggle with low self-esteem or feelings of emptiness, or want to improve communication, boundaries, and interpersonal effectiveness.
